Taurachweg route

The Mitterbergrunde circuit is particularly popular with casual cyclists. Starting from Tamsweg, the Taurachweg route leads along the Taurach river via Pichl, Mauterndorf, Pichselsdorf, Flatschach, Unternberg and Mur back to Tamsweg. There is an elevation gain of 200 metres.
The easy route is approx. 31 km long in total, and the maximum gradient is 12%. The tour takes you past Mauterndorf Castle and Moosham Castle, which are both very much worth a visit. The historic market square of Mauterndorf is another ideal place for a break during your bike ride.

Mountain biking

The Lungau holiday region is also a very attractive area for mountain bikers. Plenty of well-marked mountain bike routes ensure fun and variety. 
The Fanningberg circuit and the Lignitz route, both starting from Mariapfarr, are highly recommended. Starting from nearby Mauterndorf, the Trogalm circuit, the Neusess circuit and the Lantschfeld route are also very worthwhile tours.
The Lungau EXTREM tour connects the individual valleys and is sure to raise the pulse of every thrill-seeking mountain biker!

Biking on forest roads

Important information

In the period from 1 June to 15 September between 9am and 7pm and from 16 September to 31 October between 9am and 5pm, use is permitted at your own risk.
Please use only the approved, marked routes and note that the forest roads are operational areas. For example, there may be wood laying along the path or grazing livestock may cross the tracks. You may also encounter motor vehicles and pedestrians during your journey, so please be particularly aware of these.
Please adjust your driving speed according to your ability and the local conditions, and reduce speed in unclear or dangerous situations.
